THE LOOM OF THE LAND
2016 oil on canvases / mixed media on cardboards
A look into the topic of landscape painting with a focus on the medial and technological evolution of societies, and its accompanying shifts of perception.
“Picturing mountains… observing them through my computer screen. I am composing mountainous ridges of interconnected patches of colour, and allowing and creating errors in the translation of my ideas to the canvas. Forms of perception; exhaustion; an inability to grasp time and space; the search for an image that encapsulates the idea; and the intention to create precisely this image. The attempt to tell stories and embed them in the layers of these mountainous ridges, without granting them too much narrative space at the same time.“
